The Joy of Fall

Those of you who know me well know that I LOVE FALL. It is my absolute favorite season. And it just so happens that in the Fall, Brian and I have much to celebrate. October is the Dempsey month as my sister-in-law Ashlie says. Brian's birthday is on the 19th, mine is the 20th and now we have Ava whose birthday is the 25th! And as if that wasn't enough, we also celebrate our anniversary on the 27th. So there ya have it, all that celebrating in one week of one month. But that's not the reason I love the Fall, although it adds some fun. I love the Fall b/c it's the most Beautiful of all seasons. It's as if God's glory is on display everywhere you look. A gorgeous bright red, orange or yellow tree literally takes my breath away and I just have to stare at its beauty. There is an older post of mine that I wrote one Fall about the beauty that surrounds us and when we are beholding it and we are in such awe of it, beholding it just doesn't feel like enough. We want to step into and be IN it, a part of it. I didn't actually write that, C.s. Lewis did. But I understood when I read it EXACTLY what he was talking about. But the beauty really is the glory of God. It is His creation, His creativity, it's HIM. He is this beautiful. Oh, I can't wait to see Him and Heaven. If what I see on this dying, decaying world is this gorgeous and glorious, what will that be like?

So one of my all time dreams as a woman without a child was that one day I would take my child to a pumpkin patch. Sounds funny, but I think the women out there would understand this. It's something moms do and I felt left out of those types of things and looked forward to the day that I could that with my own. Well, as Brian and I drove home from an event we attended last Saturday, I saw a church that already had their pumpkins out and I said, "we have to take Ava!! It's my dream to do this!" Brian said after we got home that he thought I was joking about that and then he realized that it was no joke! I was so excited and we got some great pictures of Ava. The weather was perfect for it. I do have to add that right before we went to take the pumpkin pictures Ava had a few tastes of our blue rasberry italian ice treat. So if you think her lips look a tad bit blue, you're right, and now you know why!

I am looking forward to the day she will remember these events and they can become happy memories for her as well. So I am happy and so pleased to say that once again, another dream fulfilled. Thank you to my Heavenly Father who has blessed me with such a thing.
