On Mistakes
We did get our documents out to California-finally! They went out Friday "Next Day" so they got them on Saturday. Brian had gone and picked up the cashier's check that we had to include in the package on Wednesday. I realized the next day right before I was heading to the post office, that one of the documents I had put in the package was not supposed to go and unfortunately we had included the $50 for it already in the cashier's check. So I thought I would call the bank to see if we could exchange it for a new one for the correct amount. She said we could, (I am glad we could save that $50, every little bit helps, right?) and she also asked if this was for adoption and I told her it was. She said that both our names needed to be on the check and that we both needed to be there for that. So I am so thankful that I made the error with the amount of the check b/c had I not, I would have sent the check out with only Brian's name on it. They probably would have sent all of our docs back b/c of it! So mistakes are not always "mistakes". As they say, God is in the details. Thank goodness too b/c I'm not always paying close enough attention to the details! So hopefully we will be getting those back next week and can send them out to the agency.

Hey!
Love the music, very peaceful.
What a funny thing... I'm so glad that the woman you spoke to didn't assume, "well, I'm sure they know what they're doing," or take a bureaucratic attitude and refuse to be of extra help. HER attention to detail and its huge help to you remind me that any little thing I do could be useful or helpful to someone else.
It also helps me realize the truth of the fact that God really is in control! What I tend to get miserablly frustrated over may actually be a saving grace.
I'm glad it's done! Yippee!
Such a tedious process, stressful, but so worth it! You are surely learning to be mindful of the small details. I've never been great at that by nature, but I'm continually learning it with nursing. Details are important! I'm glad it's in the mail, and will pray it comes back approved.
Love,
Mom
Jan, man, that's so neat. So cool to see how God's grace permeates our lives. Today I was 20 min late leaving work, I was frustrated and feeling guilty b/c of the kids. Anyway, I took our normal route home and there was so much traffic, when it moved forward I could see ambulances and and a couple of minutes later a helicopter took off w/ someone inside. Anyway, it could have been us...I'm praying for the person it was, but it could have been the boys. So I was thankful for the annoying meeting that ran long and made me late. God's protection takes odd forms sometimes. Thanks for sharing that, its those types of stories that increase my faith.
Wow, Ashlie, it's pretty neat that God let's us see those purposes sometimes. I guess He figures we need to see His hand in things b/c it's encouraging to us and reminds us that even the small things matter. I'm SOOO glad you were late!!
