The New Furniture

Here they are...pictures of the new furniture from the antique market. I'm so excited to share them with everyone.
This is the new armoire that we put in the sunroom. I LOVE it. It has a lot of shelves inside.
It looks nice in the sunroom too. The yellow color is nice with all the sunlight that comes in there. What shall I put in it? Hmmmmm....I think it will end up with toys and books. But who knows. I'm sure I'll play around with it before I get it just right. I have so much that could go in it. It'll be a tough decision. But that's a decision I'm not complaining about having to make!

Then next piece is the sideboard we bought for the living room. I ended up leaving the top and the legs the original dark wood and just painted the front and sides. I had to first do a primer coat and then 3 coats of the white-ish paint. Then I did a layer of stain and then sanded that until it looked distressed. It was a LOT of work and took a lot of elbow grease but we are very very pleased with the outcome. Better than I could have imagined. Especially considering what we paid for it. We got a wonderful deal on it. So, here it is....Here is a shot of it a little closer. You can see more of the details.
It really was a find too because it was EXACTLY what Brian had wanted. And it really does fit perfectly in the space-not too wide and not too long. Just right. And the added and unplanned bonus...it's a perfect match to the stars we have on the wall over the sofa!
For the kitchen we found this chest. It is a good size for the kitchen with good storage. I hope to put Ava's dishes, cups and such in there. You know, all the plastic things so that if she gets in there it's no big problem. The finish on it is very unique. It's done with multiple colors so that it blends well with whatever color is around it. It has some white, off-white, grey tones, and yellow tones too. It's really pretty, although I haven't decided what to put on the top. So for the picture I just stuck some stuff up there but all that will definitely change.
Last but not least, this is Ava's new chest of drawers. I absolutely LOVE the color. It's sort of greenish blue. It reminds me of the water in the Caribbean. And it's a good size. She'll have plenty of room for clothes and at the rate I'm going she'll need it! I've had a hard time picking out a new color for her room but I think I've found one that will look good with the chest. Her room is going to be very soft colors with a few brights here and there. Hopefully my vision for it will look as good done as it does in my head. We'll see!
So there you have it. Hope you enjoyed the tour!

You're getting a lot done quickly. You have a good motivation. Everything is coming together great, it looks beautiful.
Dad said Ava's chest looked like the one next to it before it was reworked. Actually, he said, "We've got one about like it, somewhere, oh, is that it?" Anyway, it looks really good, and like it will hold a bunch, so that's good. It will be fun to see all the changes next time we come.
Love,
MOM

Everything looks so pretty Jan!! You are so smart, planning your storage like that. Plastic cups, plates, sippies, etc. have just about been my un-doing. I love Ava's dresser, sometimes hard to tell color on the computer- almost a pale robin's egg blue? I love the hardware on the sideboard, it all came together just beautifully!Hmmm, springtime, you are "feathering your nest" sort of a neat theme going here! I wish Ava knew all of the preparations that are going on for her homecoming. I wonder what we would think if we could see all the preparations that are underway in Heaven?
